We were all horrified by the shocking fire outbreak that occurred last night at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad where patients were received for the COVID-19 treatment. The fire, unfortunately, resulted in the death and injury of dozens of people.
I extend my sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and all the Iraqi people, I share their grief and pray to God Almighty to grant comfort and patience to all. May they all rest in peace. I wish the wounded a speedy recovery.
The Kurdistan Region is fully prepared to provide assistance; its hospitals are ready to receive the injured and provide them with necessary medical treatment.
The relevant authorities must disclose what caused the fire outbreak and hold all negligent parties accountable . Taking maximum safety measures in all places is necessary to prevent such painful incidents in the future, anywhere in the country.
