Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Iraq’s President Dr. Barham Salih in Baghdad on Saturday.
Discussions focused on the political situation in Iraq, the latest developments in the country and the upcoming early elections for the Iraqi parliament. The need to prepare the ground for fair elections that express the will of the voters was stressed in order to overcome the current crises and disputes and ensure stability and security in the future.
The meeting also discussed the issue of ratifying the Iraqi Federal Budget Bill for the year 2021, including the share of the Kurdistan Region and the need to implement the bill in order to secure the well-being of citizens and solve public salary problems. It was also indicated that this should be the beginning of a constructive dialogue to support the resolution of all differences between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government on the basis of the constitution.
Discussions also included the developments in the wider region and the need for collective efforts to overcome shared challenges and crises.
