Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed a congratulatory message to the Union of Islamic Scholars of Kurdistan on their anniversary. Bellow is President Barzani’s statement:
I congratulate the Union of Islamic Scholars of Kurdistan, its president, Executive Board and Central Council, on their 49th anniversary. I also congratulate their members and all of the Islamic scholars of Kurdistan. They have a critical role in instilling the spirit of coexistence, the culture of tolerance, civil peace and in preventing any rise of extremist ideologies in Kurdistan. We appreciate their key role and important duties.
I take this opportunity to stress on Kurdistan’s culture of peace, humanity and coexistence among all ethnic and religious groups. The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region will continue to support the Union of Islamic Scholars of Kurdistan for upholding these values and goals.
