President Nechirvan Barzani and a Japanese delegation discuss bilateral relations

President Nechirvan Barzani received a delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Mr. Sugaya Masamichi, Director of Middle Eastern Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, which included Mr. Akira Endo, the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, addressed Japan’s relations with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the overall situation in Iraq, and potential Japanese business and investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region.

Both sides expressed their shared interest in strengthening relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors. President Nechirvan Barzani commended the initiatives and projects undertaken by JICA and Japanese companies, highlighting their valuable contributions to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

In response, the visiting delegation condemned the attack on Khor Mor, reaffirmed their support for the Kurdistan Region, and expressed their readiness to further engage in reconstruction and development efforts in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Iraqi parliamentary elections, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and recent regional developments were also discussed.
