President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Iraq, along with his accompanying delegation.
During their meeting, they discussed the internal situation of the Kurdistan Region, relations between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the political situation in Iraq, the issue of electing the President of the Republic, and steps toward forming a new federal Iraqi government.
Both sides agreed on the importance of advancing the political process in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and stressed the necessity of coordination and cooperation among political forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to overcome problems and address challenges.
UK–Iraq and UK–Kurdistan Region relations, the situation in Syria, and the latest regional developments were also discussed. The meeting was also attended by the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
