President Nechirvan Barzani received a phone call from Mr. Tom Berendsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
During the call, President Nechirvan Barzani extended his congratulations to Mr. Berendsen on his new position as Foreign Minister and wished him success. He also conveyed his appreciation for the ongoing support and cooperation that the Netherlands has consistently provided to the Kurdistan Region.
The two sides shared their perspectives on recent developments concerning the war and the complex regional situation, particularly emphasizing the serious effects of the conflict on peace, stability, and economic conditions in the region and globally. In this context, they agreed that all possible measures should be taken to halt the war and achieve a peaceful resolution to the existing issues and disputes.
The Dutch Foreign Minister expressed his country’s and the European Union’s concerns regarding the risk of further escalation of the conflict and its repercussions. He also reiterated his country’s commitment to upholding the peace and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The discussion also addressed the impact of regional conflicts on the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the importance of keeping Iraq and the Kurdistan Region distanced from ongoing conflicts. Bilateral relations and continued cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands were also emphasized as key areas of mutual interest.
