Erbil, Kurdistan Region, May 1, 2024
On this International Labor Day, the 1st of May, I salute all workers in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world. I pay tribute to their hard work and dedication and extend my wishes for their well-being, prosperity, and success.
While we recognize the responsibilities and vital role that workers play in the country’s reconstruction, we also continue to support their struggle for their legitimate rights and demands. Furthermore, there is a pressing need for modern, progressive legislation that fosters a better working environment and quality of life for workers and their families.
In light of this commemoration, I urge trade unions and organizations to enhance their endeavors in safeguarding and advocating for the rights of workers. It is imperative that equal employment opportunities are provided, and relevant authorities should prioritize the welfare of the families who have tragically lost their loved ones in the line of duty. Efforts should be made to improve their living conditions and ensure their well-being.
Happy May Day. I extend my heartfelt wishes to all for a peaceful holiday.
