President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mr. Saeed Al Hajeri, the Minister of State and Special Envoy of the United Arab Emirates for Economic Affairs to the Kurdistan Region, along with his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, both parties acknowledged the longstanding friendship and relations, and emphasized their mutual desire to enhance and broaden cooperation, particularly in areas of shared interest. In this context, they recognized the significance of establishing an incentive law and fostering a supportive environment for investment in the Kurdistan Region.
President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude to the leadership and government of the UAE for their ongoing assistance and support to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He regarded the appointment of a UAE special envoy for economic affairs to the Kurdistan Region as a significant milestone that underscores the importance of their bilateral relations.
The President also conveyed his appreciation to the President of the UAE, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who, during a meeting in April in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the necessity of appointing a special UAE envoy to promote investment in the Kurdistan Region.
They also explored the investment opportunities and activities of UAE companies and the private sector within the Kurdistan Region, exchanging insights on their potential for expansion across various sectors. President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated his dedication to offering all necessary support and assistance from the relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Region.
The discussions encompassed economic diversification, a clear vision for UAE investment in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the pursuit of a sustainable economy, Iraq's relations with the UAE, and other matters of mutual interest.
