President Nechirvan Barzani met today in Erbil with Russia’s Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev, and his accompanying delegation.
Discussions covered the latest political developments in the country, Iraq’s delayed presidential vote, formation of the new government, Russia’s bilateral relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and Erbil-Baghdad relations.
The President underlined the need for continued dialogue among Iraqi parties, and the importance of their collective cooperation and common understanding to surpass the current obstacles to the political process in the country.
The meeting also focused on the war in Ukraine and its ramifications. Both sides expressed hope that the conflict would soon come to an end.
The latest developments in the wider region and other issues of mutual interest were highlighted during the meeting which was also attended by Russia’s Consul General in Erbil.
