President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting this evening with Ambassador Daniel Rubinstein, the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy.
During the meeting, which also included the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, discussions focused on enhancing relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the United States. The talks also addressed relations between Erbil and Baghdad, particularly regarding initiatives and strategies aimed at resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, as well as progress toward establishing the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Both sides commended the ongoing dialogue between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government of Iraq aimed at resolving outstanding issues. They also expressed optimism that political factions in Kurdistan would reach a consensus on forming the new cabinet for the Kurdistan Regional Government promptly following the parliamentary elections.
The meeting also addressed the situation in Syria, the status of the Kurdish people within the country, and ongoing initiatives related to the peace process in Turkey.
