President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Estonian Defense Minister Mr. Hanno Pevkur and his accompanying delegation.
During a meeting attended by Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, and the Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga, discussions focused on Estonia’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly on security and defense cooperation and Estonia’s role in the international coalition against ISIS.
President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude to Estonia for its support and assistance to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially in the fight against terrorism. He also affirmed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Estonia across all sectors.
The Estonian Defense Minister reiterated his country’s commitment to deepening ties and enhancing joint efforts with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He also commended the Kurdistan Region’s role and dedication in the fight against ISIS and terrorism.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Syria, the latest developments in the Middle East, and other matters of mutual interest.
