President Nechirvan Barzani met separately with the President of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mr. Bafel Talabani, the Secretary General of the Islamic Union of Kurdistan, Mr. Salahaddin Muhammad Bahauddin, the Change Movement (Gorran) represented by Mr. Omar Said Ali, the President of the Kurdistan Justice Society, Mr. Ali Bapir, and the leadership of these political parties, in Sulaimani today.
The meetings, attended by Kurdistan Region Vice Presidents, Chief of Staff and a number of advisors, focused on the political developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and challenges facing the country.
During the meetings, the importance of dialogue among political parties in Kurdistan and their unity and partnership were underlined. It was affirmed that resolving the differences among political parties and their unity, especially between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will have positive impact on developments in the Kurdistan Region and strengthens Kurdistan’s standing in Baghdad.
The President reiterated that the Kurdistan Region Presidency will continue to work for unity and common purpose among all political parties and bring all sides and communities closer together.
Political parties valued President Nechirvan Barzani’s and the Kurdistan Region Presidency’s efforts towards unity and consensus and expressed hope that the efforts will continue and succeed.
