President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Niccolò Fontana, Italy’s Ambassador to Iraq, last night. They discussed Italy’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the political process and the successful execution of the Iraqi parliamentary elections
Both parties praised the voting and election process, expressing their hope that it would lead to a brighter future for all in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also shared perspectives on the future of the political landscape in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting further addressed the situation in the Kurdistan Region, efforts to form the next cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the peace process in Türkiye, the situation in Syria, and broader regional developments. The Consul General of Italy in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
