President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mohamed Al Hassan, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).
The two engaged in a discussion regarding the political landscape and overall circumstances in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the collaboration and coordination efforts between UNAMI and the relevant parties in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also addressed recent developments in the Middle East and shared their perspectives on how these changes might affect the region.
President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed his appreciation for the contributions of the United Nations and UNAMI across different sectors in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He also affirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to provide all essential support and coordination until the conclusion of their mission.
Mr. Al Hassan conveyed the gratitude of the United Nations and UNAMI towards the involved parties in the Kurdistan Region for their collaboration, emphasizing the significance of safeguarding Iraq from regional tensions.
The two parties also deemed it essential to address the matters concerning Erbil and Baghdad, fostering mutual understanding, which benefits all of Iraq and contributes to the preservation of peace, stability, and the nation’s development.
