President Nechirvan Barzani met with the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Abboud, in Baghdad this morning.
The meeting was about the significance of the Federal Court's role in addressing the unresolved matters between Erbil and Baghdad. It outlined the need to adhere to the Iraqi Constitution, which serves as the fundamental basis of ensuring justice and safeguarding the rights of all communities within Iraq.
President Barzani expressed his gratitude to the Federal Supreme Court for its significant contribution to the conduct of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and for its support in addressing the challenges between Erbil and Baghdad, particularly regarding salary matters. He also commended the judiciary's role in safeguarding the democratic process within the nation.
They both spoke of the importance of collaboration between the Judiciary and the Federal and Regional institutions to solve disputes based on legal and constitutional principles, aiming to enhance national stability and upholding the rule of law.
The meeting also touched on regional issues, highlighting the significance of preventing Iraq from descending into conflict and underscoring the need to maintain security and stability within the nation.
