President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mr. Zafer Sırakaya, the Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party). They discussed relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Türkiye, as well as the current situation in the region.
Both sides emphasized the importance of bilateral relations and the need for joint cooperation across various sectors to serve mutual interests and promote peace and stability in the region.
President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region regards Türkiye as a vital neighbor with shared long-term interests, expressing gratitude to President Erdogan and the AK Party for their efforts to strengthen Türkiye’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In response, Mr. Sırakaya reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to expanding its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all fields, commending the friendship and rapport with President Nechirvan Barzani, as well as his constructive role in the region.
The meeting also addressed the peace process in Türkiye and other issues of mutual interest.
