President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Matsumoto Futoshi, the outgoing Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, who paid a farewell visit to the President upon completion of his term in office.
During their meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed appreciation and recognition for the efforts of the Japanese Ambassador in strengthening relations between his country, the Republic of Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. He praised Japan's constructive role in supporting stability and development in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, while wishing Mr. Futoshi success in his future responsibilities.
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support he had received from the Kurdistan Region’s institutions during his mission. He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to advancing relations and expanding mutual cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Their discussions also touched on the recent Kurdistan parliamentary elections, the overall situation in Iraq, the region in general, and other topics of mutual interest.
