Today, we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the aerial bombing of innocent civilians in Qaladiza on April 24, 1974. Numerous townspeople as well as students and teachers of Slemani University who were in Qaladiza at the time were tragically killed, in one of the many instances of the former Iraqi regime’s crimes against innocent civilians. On this solemn occasion, we honor their memories and remember them with utmost respect and reverence.
The cowardly air strike that killed civilians in Qaladiza only served to strengthen the resolve of the people of Kurdistan to resist oppression and tyranny. People remained steadfast in their pursuit of justice, directing their unwavering attention towards their noble cause and persisting in their fight for their rights.
This dark chapter in the history of Kurdistan underscores the importance of unity and solidarity in the face of adversity. Let us learn from the past, stand together, and work towards a brighter future where such atrocities never happen again.
May peace be upon the souls of the fallen heroes of Qaladiza, Pishder, and all martyrs of Kurdistan.
