President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Faiq Zedan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, today in Baghdad.
During their discussion, they addressed the overall situation in iraq and the important role of judicial authority in resolving the country's issues, particularly the disputes between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
President Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the critical role of the Iraqi Judiciary in ensuring justice and resolving national issues in accordance with the Constitution and laws, in a way that supports the country's stability and progress.
Both sides expressed their appreciation for the judiciary’s role in supporting and overseeing the Kurdistan Parliament elections and praised the work and role of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq. They also called on the judicial authority to protect the rights and entitlements of the Kurdistan Region.
Judge Faiq Zedan emphasized the importance of the rule of law in resolving national issues and noted that the judiciary always strives to be a key factor in bringing together various parties and addressing their disputes.
