Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 17 July 2019 - The Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maksim Maksimov, conveyed congratulations on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Of Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov and himself to President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani on assuming his new post, and wished him all the success.
In the meeting, held in Erbil, both sides reiterated on strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and Russia and resolving outstanding issues between Erbil-Baghdad in accordance to Iraq Constitution. The Presdinet expressed Kurdistan Region's willingness for resolving the issues, as he pointed out yesterday's visit of a high level delegation of Kurdistan Regional Government to Baghdad.
Discussing the situation in the Middle East, various topics related to the political and security situations of Iraq and Kurdistan Region were among discussed topics.
