We in the Kurdistan Region view with deep alarm the ongoing armed clashes and military confrontation between the Syrian Army and the SDF. The continuation of these clashes seriously endangers peace and stability in Syria and throughout the region, while raising the risk of an ISIS comeback.
Since the onset of this escalation, we have remained in constant and uninterrupted communication with regional and international parties, pressing for an immediate end to the clashes and hostilities, and the initiation of dialogue aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution. We reiterate that war and military means offer no solution to the problems; they only complicate the situation further.
We urge the international coalition to uphold its duty to maintain stability and avert the resurgence of ISIS. We remain committed to providing all necessary support to end the fighting, secure a lasting ceasefire, and reach an agreement. We underline that the rights of the Kurdish people — and all other communities in Syria — must be protected and guaranteed in the future constitution of Syria.
