Erbil, Kurdistan Region, November 25, 2023
Today, November 25th, on this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, it is imperative that we reaffirm our unwavering support for the 16-day campaign aimed at combating this scourge. We completely denounce any form of violence inflicted on girls and women, as well as their harassment under any circumstances.
On this important day, we must remember all the women who have suffered oppression and lost their lives due to their gender and the differences that set them apart. The pain endured by the families and parents of these victims is immeasurable, no words can adequately express their anguish. The only solace for them is our collective effort to achieve justice for these victims. We extend our gratitude to women activists, religious leaders, and all those who tirelessly strive to improve the status of women in any capacity.
On this occasion, we reiterate our steadfast commitment to vehemently oppose all forms of violence and violations against women and their rights. We will continue to coordinate and work with stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the international community. Our dedication to building a society that is free, just, and equal remains resolute.
