President Nechirvan Barzani met with Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the President of the Federal Republic of Iraq.
Their meeting covered the political, security, and economic situation of the country, focusing on the relations between the Federal authorities and the Kurdistan Region, in addition to recent developments in the region.
Both parties emphasized the need to maintain open dialogue between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government. They highlighted the necessity of resolving areas of disagreement in a manner consistent with legal and constitutional frameworks, while also ensuring that the rights and salaries of employees and pensioners in the Kurdistan Region are duly provided.
Both parties recognized the significance of facilitating visits between officials from the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. This initiative aims to foster a mutual understanding and enhance the foundations of constructive and effective communication, ultimately working towards resolving issues and overcoming challenges.
President Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the importance of the Federal Government fulfilling its financial obligations to the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted that fostering understanding and addressing issues will enhance the relationship between both parties. He also expressed gratitude to President Rashid for his attention and ongoing efforts regarding the matters between Erbil and Baghdad.
