This morning, President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Thomas Seiler, the European Union Ambassador to Iraq.
During their meeting, they discussed the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, expressing a positive outlook on the recent advancements in their bilateral negotiations aimed at addressing outstanding issues. Both parties emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil and the need for resolution through mutual understanding.
Ambassador Seiler remarked on the commitment of the European Union to assist both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Federal Government in revitalizing the economy and generating employment opportunities.
Their meeting also focused on the 10th commemoration of the Yezidi genocide as well as the current and future circumstances facing the Yezidi community and other groups in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. A key topic was the Sinjar Agreement between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, which aims to stabilize Sinjar. They also addressed concerns around migration, and reviewed recent developments in the region.
