President of the Kurdistan Region and Commander-in-Chief of the Peshmerga Forces Nechirvan Barzani participated in the graduation ceremony of the the Military Academy in Zakho.
During a speech at the ceremony, President Barzani commended the Military Academy in Zakho and congratulated the graduating officers. He also urged all officers to uphold the values of which Peshmerga Forces are recognized for worldwide.
President Barzani called for the establishment of unified national armed forces, one that is without any political or religious affiliations and well equipped to defend Kurdistan.
President Barzani reiterated the need to implement necessary steps for the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs. He expressed his appreciation to the United States for supporting the Peshmerga Forces in the war against ISIS terrorism. President Barzani also extended his gratitude to the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands for providing support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region.
President Barzani also paid tribute to the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Kurdistan.
